About

Built in the Thirteenth Century, Chateau Sardy was originally a fortified farm, punctuated with loopholes in the walls to protect defending archers. During the Eighteenth Century, it was transformed into a more sophisticated residence; this was when large full-length double windows were introduced to let in the light and the long pool created to reflect so beautifully the facade with its two cabin windows, so typical of the Italian Florentine countryside.  Impassioned by Architecture, Bertie Imbs, father of Frederic Imbs, the current occupant of Sardy, undertook the restoration of the structure that had suffered serious damage over the years. Betty, his wife, created the gardens that surround the pool, inspired by her long stay in England, and designed the structure with the aid of the architect, Louis Aublet.  [ Click for details ]
